Cavaliers suspend Andrew Bynum for detrimental conduct - SportingNews.com

Center Andrew Bynum was placed on indefinite suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, the Cleveland Cavaliers announced Saturday.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the suspension, and Bynum didn't travel with the team to Boston for Saturday's game.

Reports indicated the Cavaliers are willing to trade Bynum, who appeared in 24 of their 28 games leading into Saturday. Bynum, 26, signed a cap-friendly two-year, $24 million deal during the offseason that included $6 million guaranteed.

The Cavs can clear salary cap space if Bynum is traded or released by Jan. 7.

"It's a terrible situation internally with our team," All-Star guard Kyrie Irving said before the Cavs faced the Celtics. "It's something we have to get over."

Cavs coach Mike Brown has been a huge supporter of Bynum. The two were together in Los Angeles and their relationship was a reason the Cavs risked signing Bynum.

Brown was asked if Bynum's days with the Cavs were over.

"He's on an indefinite suspension and I'm not trying to be funny, but you know what indefinite means," Brown said. "We've got 14 guys in that locker room who are very focused and determined and ready to take on any challenge that's in front of them. They're great guys, they're focused guys and they know how to play the game the right way and that's what I'm focused on, just helping those guys win."

There are questions as to whether a team would be interested in Bynum, given his history of knee injuries and questionable attitude. Seven-foot centers are rare commodities, but Bynum missed all last season with various injuries. He's not the same player who had double-digit points and rebounds for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bynum's play hasn't been what the Cavs had hoped for, as he averages 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Bynum's suspension isn't a major shock. He has not performed at a consistent level and has appeared disinterested while on the floor. Earlier this season he talked openly about retirement and said his medical issues have been a challenge to overcome.

Bynum showed flashes of being a dominant post player but recently he has lacked energy or enthusiasm. On Monday he missed all 11 field-goal attempts and didn't score in 22 minutes against the Detroit Pistons.

Bynum spent seven seasons with the Lakers, who selected him with the 10th overall pick in the 2005 draft.

Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl preview: Kansas State vs. Michigan - USA TODAY

Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Tempe, Ariz. | Kansas State (7-5) vs. Michigan (7-5)

Time/TV: 10:15 p.m. ET/ESPN. Surface: Grass.

Glantz-Culver line: Kansas State by 4½. Sagarin difference: Kansas State by 2.20.

Bowl records: Michigan 20-22, Kansas State 6-10. Series: First meeting.

BOWL SCHEDULE: Dates, times, TV

Synopsis: An opening loss to FCS power North Dakota State and difficult encounters with the Big 12's upper echelon put the Wildcats' postseason chances in serious doubt. But Bill Snyder always gets what he can out of his team, and Kansas State came up with enough wins to earn this shot at Michigan. While that "5" in the loss column is never acceptable to Wolverines fans, a lot would have been forgotten if they'd managed the upset of Ohio State in the regular-season finale.

Unfortunately for Michigan QB Devin Gardner came out of the Wolverines' one-point heartbreaker loss to Ohio State with a foot injury that will force him to miss the bowl. Freshman back-up Shane Morris has played in only three games, so he'll likely need plenty of help from TB Fitz Toussaint. But if he can't get WR Jeremy Gallon and TE Devin Funchess involved as well, there won't be much real estate on the ground against LB Blake Slaughter and the Kansas State front. The Wildcats' offense has gone with a QB platoon for most of the season. Daniel Sams is utilized primarily as a runner to complement TB John Hubert, while Jake Waters is more likely to take to the air with WR Tyler Lockett providing the deep target. Lockett will have to contend with Wolverines CBs Blake Countess and Raymon Taylor, who have combined for 10 INTs.

Red Lobster not closing, Darden says - Orlando Sentinel

Darden Restaurants said today it will either spin off or sell Red Lobster, one of its oldest and biggest brands. The Orlando-based company also said it plans to stop building new Olive Gardens and to slow down growth at LongHorn Steakhouse.

Relax, everyone. Your Cheddar Bay biscuits are safe.

Red Lobster is not closing, despite Internet rumors about the chain's demise.

Owner Darden Restaurants has been trying to quash false reports since Christmas that Red Lobster is shuttering its restaurants across the country. Still, on Friday afternoon "Red Lobster closing" was the No. 1 item trending on Yahoo, and the rumor was the subject of multiple Tweets and Facebook posts.

"To clarify, reports that @RedLobster is closing are false," the company tweeted out Friday. "We're looking forward to your next visit!"

Darden said last week it plans to sell or spin off the Red Lobster chain into a separate company. But "we never said we were closing any restaurants," spokesman Rich Jeffers said Friday.

Jeffers said the rumors stem from a piece in LA Weekly that "was clearly being facetious" about the brand's shutdown. Other media outlets wrongly assumed the restaurants were closing and reported that, he said.

"You had a couple outlets where clearly folks weren't practicing good journalism, and no one called to verify if what they read in LA Weekly was accurate," Jeffers said.

The LA Weekly piece had been updated as of Friday to say no restaurants were closing.

Computer Glitch Gives Some Lucky Fliers Cheap Airfare On Delta Air Lines - CBS Local

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) – Christmas came a day late for some quick – and lucky – travelers.

Some lucky fliers were able to capitalize on a computer glitch Thursday and scored some really cheap flights on Delta Air Lines.

From about 10 a.m. through noon ET, certain Delta fares on the airline’s own website and other airfare booking sites were showing up incorrectly, offering some savvy bargain hunters incredible deals. A round-trip flight between Cincinnati and Minneapolis for February was being sold for just $25.05 and a round-trip between Cincinnati and Salt Lake City for $48.41. The correct price for both of those fares is more than $400.

Trebor Banstetter, a spokesman for the Atlanta-based airline, said the problem has been fixed but “Delta will honor any fares purchased at the incorrect price.”

One traveler told CBS 2′s Tracee Carrasco he paid a combined $93.78 for a one-way ticket from New York City to Los Angeles and another one-way ticket from L.A. to San Franciso, both in first class.

Jackie Fanelli, 27, learned about the super cheap fares from a friend’s Facebook page. She attempted to purchase a $98 round-trip first-class ticket from her home city of Baltimore to Honolulu on Priceline.com but the transaction didn’t process before the deal was shut down.

“It was too good to be true,” Fanelli said. “I try to go away every other year and this was not the year.”

Delta’s website was having lingering problems from the increased traffic Thursday afternoon.

“It looks like Delta’s programmers had a little too much eggnog yesterday,” joked George Hobica, founder of AirfareWatchDog.com, which promotes airfare sales.

It’s likely that the airline tried to tweak its fares with a $10 or $20 system-wide change and a junior programmer made a mistake or two, he said.

“People just go wild. People have been bragging about booking six first-class tickets to Hawaii,” Hobica said. “People hate the airlines so much that when this happens, they say: I’m going to get back at you for the time you broke my suitcase and didn’t pay for it.”

Other airlines have faced the same issue. In September United Airlines experienced an error in filing fares to its computer system. Many customers got tickets for $5 or $10, paying only the cost of the Sept. 11 security fee.

New Department of Transportation regulations, aimed at truth in advertising, require airlines to honor any mistake fares offered.

Emily Goodhand: Dean McDermott's One-Night Stand - WebProNews

“I love my wife. I love her so much, but she won’t sleep with me.”

Dean McDermott has recently been accused of cheating on his wife, actress Tori Spelling, with Emily Goodhand, a copywright and compliance officer.

After meeting through mutual friends early in December in Toronto, Goodhand says that she and McDermott met his room of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and had protected sex.

“I was drinking so what he said is blurry,” Goodhand said. “But he was talking about his kids and his work. And when people open up, you feel closer to them in some way. I felt like I could trust him. And we know a lot of the same people, so we had that in common.”

Goodhand stayed with the 47-year old host of “Chopped Canada” for two nights.

“He told me he and Tori had a sexless marriage,” she told Us Weekly. “I believed him.”

Now the 28-year old is regretful and in an interview made a public apology to Tori Spelling saying, “I’m an adult and I make my own decisions. I’m sorry.”

On her Twitter page, Goodhand has made no public comments about McDermott, only commenting on her absence from her feed around the holidays.

McDermott and Spelling have been married since 2006. They both were married to other partners before but began having an affair the first night they met during the taping of the Lifetime movie, “Mind Over Murder.” They have four children together. McDermott also has a child from his previous 12-year marriage to Mary Jo Eustace, a Canadian actress and singer.

During her last pregnancy, Spelling was hospitalized for four months prior to birth. She later had complications with her C-section, resulting in emergency hospitalization one month after giving birth.

McDermott and Spelling have made no comment pertaining to his affair with Goodhand.
