The ‘Teen Mom’ star’s over-the-top tear-fest on ‘Couples Therapy’ felt more for dramatic show than for genuine self-reflection — plus, she shopped out ‘boyfriends’ to fake a relationship in order to get on the show, which shows her intentions were to get back on TV, not work on herself.
Farrah Abraham made a very commendable New Year’s resolution: to focus on improving her mind and cutting out the superficial stuff. She seemed to make a major step in her self-improvement efforts by joining the VH1 show Couples Therapy, but her whole faking a boyfriend mess makes a mockery of any therapy efforts.
Farrah Abraham On ‘Couples Therapy’: Faking Boyfriend Mocks Therapy Efforts
Farrah’s words and actions always seem to be at war with one another: on one hand, she says that she wants to work on her deep-rooted issues, learn to deal with her emotions, and work on establishing meaningful relationships with the people in her life.
On the other hand, she was shopping out guys to be her pretend boyfriend for the sake of the show.
Carson Underwood told HollywoodLife.com that Farrah approached him in Nov. 2012 asking if he would be willing to be her boyfriend so that they could appear on Couples Therapy together. When he turned her down and refused to participate, she looked elsewhere for a guy willing to go along with her.
Farrah Abraham Faking Relationship With Brian Dawe?
Farrah actually appeared on Couples Therapy solo despite the fact that the show’s entire premise is working out relationship issues as a pair. Farrah’s critics — including fellow Teen Mom franchise co-star Jenelle Evans, claim that her relationship with boyfriend Brian Dawe was all manufactured for the show, so she could entertain audiences with a dramatic show when he stood her up for the therapy show appearance.
I’ll be interested in seeing how Farrah’s therapy sessions unfold on the show, as I’m eager to see if she begins to show willingness to change. The show’s host and psychotherapist Dr. Jenn swears we’ll see a more human, relatable side of Farrah come out, and I hope Farrah can benefit from her time on the show.
