Police say actor Shia LaBeouf was taken out of a New York City theater for being disorderly and yelling obscenities during the performance.

It happened Thursday night at Studio 54 in Manhattan at the Broadway show "Cabaret."

Police say LaBeouf used obscene language and interfered with the show.

A spokesman for"Cabaret" says LaBeouf was "disruptive during Act 1" and was escorted out of the theater at intermission.

The 28-year-old star of the "Transformers" franchise was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass. He was released by authorities Friday morning following his court appearance.

The actor, wearing a ripped blue T-shirt, skinny jeans and boots, walked several blocks to a hotel, surrounded by media. He declined to comment.

He's due back in court July 24.

A message seeking comment from his representative wasn't returned.

In 2007, the star was arrested and charged with criminal misdemeanor trespassing after he visited a Walgreen's store three separate times at around 4 a.m. He later spoke about the incident with David Letterman quipping, “Drinking and driving is one thing, but drinking and shopping ... it's just as bad." The charge was later dropped.

LaBeouf's bizarre antics have made headlines over the past several years. In January, he announced he was "retiring from all public life" after he was accused of plagiarizing material for his short film from a comic book. He then walked a red carpet wearing a paper bag over his head that read "I am not famous anymore" and later hosted a one-man-show titled "#IAmSorry."

LaBeouf is a former child star, who became a household name when he appeared on Disney's "Even Stevens" at the age of 10. His films include "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," "Disturbia" and "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."
