'American Idol': Which of the Top 13 got sent home? - USA TODAY

American Idol voters had already decided once they didn't want to keep Kristen O'Connor around — last week, when they picked their Top 10 finalists.

The 24-year-old from Sebastian, Fla., didn't win over too many new fans this week with her rendition of Kelly Clarkson's Beautiful Disaster. Of the three wild-card finalists picked by the judges — O'Connor, Jena Irene and C.J. Harris — O'Connor was the only one in the Bottom Three on Thursday night after viewers cast 71 million votes.

The night had begun with the group singing a medley of OneRepublic's Counting Stars and Imagine Dragons' Radioactive that began backstage. Last year's winner, Candice Glover, returned to the show to sing a medley of two songs off her debut album, Music Speaks, released last week. And 19-year-old British singer-songwriter Jake Bugg, a favorite of Keith Urban's, sang Me and You from his Shangri La album.

By the end of the night, the choice had come down to O'Connor, Malaya Watson and MK Nobillette.

And the voters had spoken — or, perhaps more accurately, not spoken. O'Connor was at the bottom of the voting tally, and she's the first finalist to leave the show this year.

"I learned a lot," she told Ryan Seacrest after she learned her fate. "From the time I auditioned until right now, I learned so much about myself as a performer."

Next week's theme on Idol will be "Home" — as in the place from which O'Connor will be watching the show.
