Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie and her husband, Michael Feldman, presented each of their 80 or so wedding guests with personal, handwritten letters.
An insider tells PEOPLE that the couple spent the weekend before their March 15 wedding penning the sentimental notes.
"It was a sweatshop of letter-writing," the insider joked, explaining how bride and groom alternated duties: If Guthrie wrote the letter, Feldman added a postscript. And vice-versa.
The letters were accompanied by monogrammed, leather luggage tags – a nod to the frequent-flier miles that Guthrie and Feldman, a high-powered political and communications strategist, collect in their respective careers.
Today co-anchor Matt Lauer, who attended the nuptials in the Arizona desert, says sentimentality was a hallmark of the entire affair. Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, read her daughter's favorite Psalm, while the bride's sister, Annie Guthrie, recited a poem she penned for the occasion.
"It all had a very personal feel to it," Lauer tells PEOPLE, "a lot of wonderful moments."
