R&B singer August Alsina appeared on 106 & Park on April 15, and Keshia Chanté asked him the question that all of his fans want to know: is he ever going to “bury the hatchet” with fellow R&B singer and ex-collaborator Trey Songz? Apparently not, because August bristled at the question and totally lashed out at Keshia for asking! It was pretty jarring. Click through to watch!
August Alsina Lashes Out Against Keshia Chanté On ’106 & Park’
While promoting his new album Testimony which was released that day, April 15, Keshia just had to ask: “Is there any chance that two talented brothers will bury the hatchet?” August did not seem overly pleased by the question, and responded with, “So, you just gon’ against the grain and go against everything that I just–…. I just told y’all not to ask me that s*** when I got up here.” Wow!
Keshia, clearly shocked, tried to recover, explaining, “well, I think that the girls wanna know, and you’ve spoken on radio stations and blogs and you’re on the show, so fans wanna know, and I’m just asking you what fans wanna know!” August — fans wanna know!! Keshia continued, “That’s it! And if you don’t want to answer, that’s fine!”
Co-host Bow Wow tried to save the situation by bringing it back to August’s new video, but the damage had already been done.
August Alsina Talks About His Feud With Trey Songz
Now, to be fair, we can definitely acknowledge both sides of the situation. While August could have been kinder and more diplomatic about not wanting to answer, Keshia should not have asked the question if it’s true that either August or his PR had already discussed with 106 & Park that he wasn’t going to answer that question. Every reporter, interviewer, and interviewee, for that matter, has been in the same situation and this wasn’t handled all too well.
And what’s the beef between Alsina and Trey? Well, the two seemed to get along well enough back in 2013 when August released his song “I Luv This S***” featuring Trey (and Chris Brown), but Alsina told Rap Up in March 2014:
“I don’t really f*** with Trey right now. We don’t get along right now. We ain’t on the same page. He did some other s*** and we just don’t rock. Like I tell people all the time, show me that you’re this person on day one… You should always be that person. We were supposed to have a show together and it just went left ’cause I can’t deal with n***s’ egos and attitudes ’cause I’m just a real n**** comin’ through and I’m rockin’.”
