Here are Independence Day celebrations taking place in Greater Lafayette.
• Boone County 4th of July Celebration: A Fourth of July parade will begin at 2 p.m., with fireworks beginning at 10 p.m. at Lebanon Middle School. The theme is “... And Still We Stand.” Floats will be judged by originality, beauty and theme.
• Brook 4th of July Celebration:Festivities begin at 7 a.m. with the opening of BYP 5K registration; the run commences at 8 a.m. At 9:40 a.m., there is a flag-raising on Main Street, followed by a parade at 10 a.m. Events continue throughout the day, with fireworks beginning at dusk.
• Covington Fourth of July Celebration: Games and rides begin at 4 p.m. From 5 to 6 p.m., the Wabash Area Band will play, followed by the Alive Again Band from 7:15 p.m. until the fireworks begin at 10 p.m. at 1 Park Ave.
• Crawfordsville Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks: The festival begins at 4 p.m. and includes a children’s bicycle parade and presentations from the Columbian Park Mobile Zoo. A pre-firework show begins at 9:15 p.m., with the pyrotechnics starting after 10 p.m. The show can be viewed from Milligan Park.
• Fowler Fourth of July Festival:Independence Day kicks off with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by a flag-raising and 5K run and walk at the Fowler Town Park at 8 a.m. Fireworks begin at dusk.
• Frankfort Fourth of July Fireworks: Fireworks begin at dusk, with music provided by WSHW-FM and WILO-AM.
• Lafayette/West Lafayette: Stars & Stripes Celebration: Held at Riehle Plaza at 200 N. 2nd St. Featuring the Lafayette Citizens Band, concerts start at 7 p.m. Fireworks will begin at dusk
• Wolcott Summer Festival Fireworks: The Lions Club will kick off the Fourth of July celebrations with a pancake sausage breakfast beginning at 7 a.m. Events continue throughout the day, including a parade at 2 p.m. Fireworks will begin after dark and can be viewed from the field behind the Wolcott House at 500 N. Range St./U.S. 24/U.S. 231.
• Zionsville July 4 Fireworks: The fun begins at 5 p.m. at Lions Park with food and music. Fireworks will begin at dusk. Parking costs a $5. The rain date is set for July 5.
• Brookston Fireworks Celebration: The Brookston Fire Department will be leading a parade at 4 p.m., with fireworks beginning at dusk. Rain date is July 6. Listen to 88.9 FM radio for a synchronized soundtrack. Spectators can gather at the Heart to Heart Walk Park off Eighth Street.
• Delphi Canal Days Festival: The ribbon cutting and opening ceremony for the Gray Bridge starts at noon. At 2 p.m., there will be a narrated walking tour of the outer Interpretive Center, with music by Tom Baugues in the afternoon. Takes place at the Wabash & Erie Canal in Delphi.
